August 12th meeting presentation and shows

We are still holding meetings in person at the Forest Grove Senior Center (see previous post on vaccination notification and / or mask guidelines) As well as meeting online. It has been a pleasure to be able to see and greet each other in person as they share their rock treasures.

Our August 12th meeting will be a presentation by Bob Oblack entitled “Rockhounding the Molalla River and it’s Geology” for those attending in person, you will be able to view his rocks from the area near the Molalla River in person. Also, bring your rocks or minerals that you might think be fluorescent. Bob Oblack is very knowledgeable with the subject of fluorescence and will be bringing his shortwave UV light.

If you cannot join us in person and wish to attend as a guest online please send us a notification and we will send you the link to attend over zoom.

ROCK SHOWS ARE BACK

We look forward to our Club tvgc rock and gem show now approved for March 11, 12 & 13th of 2022 at the Forest Grove Armory (more information to come later). But until then let’s enjoy the upcoming Mt. Hood club rock show at the Jackson armory on August 13, 14 & 15th

Also the Biggest Event of this year will be the Portland Regional Gem and Mineral Show on Oct. 1, 2 and 3rd at the Wingspan Event Center in Hillsboro across from the airport. Our Club will need volunteers to help with this upcoming Portland Regional show (that will benefit our club) and you will be able to visit the show all three days for free for volunteering or exhibiting at this show. Please attend our meeting or ask online for more information.

Please note you will be able to view many of the rock club shows on our website calendar.
